Coburn Fine Art Conservation Pty Ltd was originally established in 1989 by Stephen Coburn, an artist and conservator and is the son of Australian artist, John Coburn. Stephen studied conservation at the Materials Conservation Course at the University of Canberra in 1980. He then became the director of the Trade Union Banners Restoration Project for the NSW trades Association till 1989.

Coburn Fine Art Conservation Pty Ltd was started when Stephen travelled to The United States and worked on the Anheuser Busch Collection. He then returned to Sydney to work as the NSW Regional Galleries Paintings Conservator till 1999 building Coburn Fine Art Conservation Pty Ltd at the same time. Stephen is now the full time Director of Coburn Fine Art Conservation Pty Ltd.

Remedial or hands-on conservation and treatment for paintings, murals and works on paper including drawings, etchings and lithographs as well as frames, and three-dimensional objects.

Collection management – both public institutions and for private collectors, as well as galleries and artists alike.

Preventative Conservation – including lighting and environment management.

Photo-documentation and condition documentation of art works.

We specialise in aluminum cradles for Aboriginal bark paintings.
